Summer has left the earth completely parched. Dryness precedes every part of our land. But the recent outburst of rains has given birth to a waterfall, amidst dry rocks and vegetation.
This beauty of water that comes alive only during monsoons has no name but allures nature-lovers every year.
Frothing and bubbling like milk, this waterfall is an oasis that soothes our souls.
This unnamed waterfall falls on the way to Yellamma Gudda, half-a-km away from Jogulabhavi. This spot can be easily reached by a vehicle or even by trekking.
Situated 2 km from Saundatti, it is located in a serene and endearing environment and proves its existence only during the monsoons.
But owing to a cyclonic depression this time, this waterfall is already full and is painting a picture of calmness across the area.
You can hear this gushing waterfall from across the surrounding hills too.
Visitors come to this spot and enjoy a refreshing bath and also give one to their over-heated vehicles. I decided to capture the charming waterfalls in my camera.
Thanks to recent rains, most of the rocks housed pools of water and made navigation dangerous for me. But putting aside the fear of falling down, I moved ahead with extreme caution.
When I finally reached the peak of a hillock, a fantastic sight greeted me.
Beauty and charm was spreading out in all four directions. The sight entranced me and transported me to another world entirely.
The monsoons give birth to such waterfalls every year.
You can find them all along the way. This is something that shouldn't be missed by a nature lover even if it proves to be a difficult journey.
Traversing Sangappa Kolla, turning near Jogulabhavi and culminating at a point near Saundatti, this waterfall is a treat to the eyes.
Shepherds frequent this hillock and even farmers come here with their buffaloes.
This waterfall also calls out to the weary travellers, who enjoy a dip in the cool waters and refresh themselves in the lap of nature.
So come to this place near Saundatti and feel one with nature. If you come by your own vehicle, you can drive right up to this waterfall.
If you are coming by bus, you have to get off at Jogulabhavi and trek for a little distance to Yellamma Gudda.
When coming here, do ensure that you carry some snacks and water as there are no hotels or commercial establishments nearby.
Also, this waterfall is brimming during the monsoons. Overflowing and swirling waters can be seen and heard from afar.
It feels like rain gods, for a short time house themselves at this spot and radiate happiness everywhere. During other seasons, all you can see here is a weak stream of water.
So do enjoy this lovely spectacle of water, courtesy of the rains.
